Shredder

Low residual scrap is obtained through the operation of an onsite shredder. Powered by a 6,000 HP AC motor, with a 122" tip-to-tip hammer diameter x 108" feed chute width, and equipped with dual in-line EDDY Current separators, our shredder ensures maximum recovery of non ferrous metals and yields an excellent low residual feed stock.

CMC is at the forefront of environmentally-friendly steelmaking procedures. We are committed to using the latest technology to minimize our environmental footprint.

  • Dust, once the most voluminous by-product in the steelmaking process, has been virtually eliminated by baghouse air filtering technology.
  • Iron and other metals filtered in baghouses are recycled.
  • Water used in our steelmaking process is completely recycled, cleaned and used for landscaping our facilities.
