Scrap: A Renewable Resource

CMC Steel Texas is one of the largest recyclers in the state of Texas. Steel scrap arriving at our plant is subjected to radiation testing to ensure that no radioactive material enters into the manufacturing process. It is then sorted according to type and characteristics, and prepared so that it may be charged into the furnace in the mix required for the product being manufactured.

CMC is at the forefront of environmentally-friendly steelmaking procedures. We are committed to using the latest technology to minimize our environmental footprint.

Dust, once the most voluminous by-product in the steelmaking process, has been virtually eliminated by baghouse air filtering technology.
Iron and other metals filtered in baghouses are recycled.
Water used in our steelmaking process is completely recycled, cleaned and used for landscaping our facilities.
