The Caster

CMC Steel Texas operates a four strand, curved mold, multipoint unbending, continuous caster with electro-magnetic stirring in the mold.

Caster operation utilizes level 2 supervisory and level 3 reporting systems.
Stream protection from the ladle to the tundish is done through the use of a submerged nozzle, while shrouding from the tundish to the mold is done by bellow shrouds.

Sections cast are 4", 5" and 6-1/4" square billets, and a 5-1/4" x 7-5/8" rectangular billet.
