Manufacturing at CMC Steel Alabama

CMC Steel Alabama was CMC's second steel mill and became part of the CMC family of companies in December of 1983. We provide structural steel materials to customers throughout the South and Southeast. We produce angles up to 6", flats up to 12", and channels up to 8". Through our close relationship with CMC Steel South Carolina, our sister mill in the Southeast, we also offer rounds, squares and rebar.

Our Melt Shop features a 90 ton DC Furnace installed in 1994,

a Ladle Metallurgical Station (LMS) with electro magnetic stirring, and a 4-strand continuous caster.

The 14 stand in-line Rolling Mill is supported by our 120 Ton per hour Brickmont Reheat Furnace installed in 2008. We've also upgraded (1999) our mill finishing end with a 256 foot cooling bed and in-line straightening and stacking equipment.

This section of the site provides greater details about our process including the Mini-Mill process, Melt Shop, Rolling Mill, Shipping and the important topics of Safety and quality.
