Co-Op Scholarship Program
Students participating in the co-op program at CMC Steel Alabama are eligible for academic scholarships beginning with their first work semester. Scholarship eligibility and dollar amount will be determined by the student’s academic performance for the school semester immediately proceeding the current work semester. Students must finish the school semester with a full course load (as defined by their school) to be eligible for the scholarship for that semester. Eligibility for the scholarship will end at the conclusion of the student’s last work semester at CMC Steel Alabama.

Scholarship Payment Schedule:

  • Semester GPA of 2.79 and lower – Not Eligible
  • Semester GPA of 2.80 to 2.99 - $200
  • Semester GPA of 3.00 and higher - $300



Housing Assistance Program
Co-op students employed by CMC Steel Alabama whose permanent residence lies outside a 30 mile radius from the plant site in Birmingham will be provided with company paid housing. In addition, a per diem of $25 per day (Monday through Friday) will be provided for living expenses.
