In August 2008 Toyo Tire North America Manufacturing broke ground on the third expansion of its White, Georgia passenger and light truck/SUV tire plant. The $270 million expansion added 820,000 square feet to the plant, doubling its capacity to some 5.2 million tires per year by 2011. The extensive plant addition required 1,940 tons of joists/joist girders and 7,840 squares of deck. The project consisted of 41 sequences and phase areas with the final shipment delivered in May 2009.

The joist girders and long and short span joists were fabricated, shop primed gray, and shipped from both the CMC Joist & Deck Florida and South Carolina plants in December 2008. Due to design load and connection complexities the project required continuous communication with the Engineer of Record along with on-going revisions to the drawings. The CMC Joist & Deck Engineering Team consistently provided shop drawings far in advance of the delivery schedule for the specific sequences required by our customer, CMC South Carolina Steel, and allowed the erection schedule to stay on track. Our deck plant in Rock Hill, South Carolina fabricated B roof deck, NS roof deck, and B-Lok composite deck with the majority being the B deck. A variety of finishes were provided for the deck including primed painted, galvanized (G60), and galvanized (G60) / primed painted. Coordination between Sales, Engineering, Production, Quality Control, and Shipping to complete this impressive project exemplifies the CMC Joist & Deck ZERO EXCUSES policy.
