300 West 57th Street
New York, NY

This 46-story skyscraper extends about 600 feet into the New York City skyline and features a fascinating combination of historical preservation and innovative modern design. The original six-story structure, built in 1928, featured a masonry façade and served as the headquarters for William Randolph Hearst’s renowned publishing company. The design of Hearst Tower, Hearst Corporation’s global headquarters, utilizes innovative design techniques for the modern skyscraper within the original building footprint, preserving most of the original masonry façade.

CMC Joist & Deck, previously United Steel Deck, Inc., manufactured, detailed, and delivered over 730,000 square feet of composite steel deck, 50,000 LF of gage pour stop, 26,000 LF of cell closure, and many other accessories necessary for complete deck installation. Our experienced engineering team worked in unison with the structural steel fabricator and deck erector to produce complete and accurate deck layout drawings and ensure that the material was sequenced, manufactured, and bundled correctly to accommodate a very complex steel frame design and the intricate curtain wall interface. Our sales and production staff maintained constant communication with our customer to make certain that high-quality products were delivered to meet the project schedule. We are proud to have been a part of this landmark project, which was completed on time and opened in September 2006.
