Fort Meade DISA Complex

Fort Meade, MD

Permissions granted by GC and Dept. of Defense

Ground was broken in April 2008 for this new 1.1 million square foot seven building complex for Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), which sits on 95 acres. Approximately 4,300 DISA jobs will be relocated to Fort Meade from Northern Virginia to occupy the largest office complex in Anne Arundel County. Hensel Phelps Construction was awarded the $390 million contract to construct the complex in approximately three years. The project design criteria included sustainability provisions for a goal of LEED Silver Certification.

CMC Joist & Deck provided the steel deck and necessary accessories for this project. The products supplied include approximately 7,500 squares of 3” composite deck, 3,000 squares of 3” roof deck, 17,000 LF of 3” cell closure, 17,000 LF of pour stop, mesh column closures, girder filler, and side lap screws. Our Engineering Department detailed the deck placement drawings and provided coordination with our Production Department and the customer throughout the project. Our deck engineers worked directly with the Engineer of Record and the customer to assure all Factory Mutual requirements were met. The Production Department ensured that the desired products were delivered to meet the project schedule. The deck products were produced at our South Plainfield, NJ facility, and contributed to LEED Materials and Resources Credits 4 and 5 for recycled content and regional materials. This project is just another example of how CMC Joist & Deck can provide all of the services necessary to assure that the job is delivered without a hitch.
