Ohio Plant

The Ohio facility started up in 2004 to lead CMC Impact Metals' SBQ round heat treating capability.  The core of the plant is the continuous quench and temper line that can process rounds 3" -10" to a variety of specifications ranging from L80 grade bar stock (235 Brinell max hardness) to hardnesses over 400 Brinell.  Steel grades processed include 4130, 4140, 4340, 4145M, 4150.  All steel grades are quenched with a controlled temperature water spray which produces an effective quench while minimizing cracking.

In 2006 a new 35 ton car bottom furnace was installed to increase capability for double tempering, annealing, and normalizing processes.

CMC World News
Getting Greener

CMC is at the forefront of environmentally-friendly steelmaking procedures. We are committed to using the latest technology to minimize our environmental footprint.

  • Dust, once the most voluminous by-product in the steelmaking process, has been virtually eliminated by baghouse air filtering technology.
  • Iron and other metals filtered in baghouses are recycled.
  • Water used in our steelmaking process is completely recycled, cleaned and used for landscaping our facilities.
