What We Do

We supply the nations plumbing supply houses, HVAC and construction companies with "just in time" shipments of plumbing tube, ACR/OXY, linesets, mini-splits, steel pipe and more. We are a strategic partner to our hundreds of customers.

Our Facility is divided into two distinct units: One for casting, (the Foundry) and one for processing the cast billets (the Mill).

In the Foundry, the raw copper is heated and melted in large furnaces. After reaching a temperature of 2200 degrees, the "melt" is checked for proper chemistry (purity). Then, the molten copper is poured, or "cast" into semi-continuous molds to form copper logs. The logs are cut into shorter lengths, called billets, and transported to one of the extrusion presses in the Mill, where the billets are re-heated to 1400 degrees and "pressed", making a copper tube. See How We Do It for details on this process.

Howell Metal has been and continues to be environmentally friendly, before the term "green" was invented. We purchase #1 scrap from various "yards" around the country and utilize our customer delivery routes for backhauling scrap copper.

WE BUY "VIRGIN" and #1 SCRAP for recycling!
