General Description
Under limited to no supervision, monitors branch safety performance including injuries, injury prevention, hazard identification, hazard control and correction, compliance with OSHA and CMCR safety regulations and policies.
Essential Functions
- Inspect physcal plant several times daily to identify areas of risk and hazards (50% of job)
- Conduct Monthly branch safety meetings and New Hire Orientation Training for Branch Employees
- Provide required OSHA and CMC equipment training and certifications for branch employees including but not limited to forklift and material handler certification, LOTO, Hazcom, specific equipment safeguards, and all other required OSHA training
- Assist with CMCR security standards of the facility
- Serve as an evironmental liason with the CMC environmental Department for branch issues
- Support and assist supervisors in each department with respect to OSHA compliance
- Administer disciplinary action through written safety citations and other measures outlined in the CMCR safety regulations
- Motivate branch employees towards a safer work environment through administration of the safety incentive program, implementation of the employee-dirven WISE safety program and communication of CMCR safety standards
- Investigate injuries and accidents with detailed descriptions, corrective actions, appropriate disciplinary action and follow through to ensure corrective action is implemented. Fill out all required OSHA and insurance documentation including OSHA 300, OSHA 301 and First Report of Injury in a timely manner.
- Complete incident reports and all other safety documentation required
- Serve on the Branch Safety Committee
- Assist in the implementation of CMCR security standards
- May supervise or train Asst. Safety Coordinator
Qualifications
- HS diploma, BS preferred in manufacturing or industrial/environmental safety
- 3-5 years minimum experience in a safety role
- ASSE certification or safety organization membership a plus
- OSHA regulation documentation experience
- Experience training OSHA required topics
- Encompass not only OSHA safety regulations but also CMCR safety policy and procedure to ensure safe recycling environment and minimize accidents by proactive training and audit
- building interpersonal relaitonships, team player, written and oral communication, proficient with computers and MS Office, ability to interpret and apply rules and regulations
