General Description
Reporting to the General Manager Transportation, the Logistics Maintenance Manager’s primary responsibilities are to manage all over the road equipment maintenance including internal and external maintenance facilities. Will establish preventive maintenance cycles and ensure DOT compliance on all road assets.
Essential Functions
- Establish maintenance facilities to support assets in the field (either owned or 3rd party).
- Ensure all assets meet DOT or other regulatory requirements. (Trucks, trailers, rail cars, etc.)
- Evaluate and recommend proper specifications on all assets.
- Know and be able to report total cost of ownership (T.C.O.) on assets.
- Minimize out of service periods for all assets.
- Establish procedures for record keeping complying with DOT requirements.
- Establish procedures to maximize efficiencies for driver personnel to report mechanical failures and repair needs.
- Oversee all owned facilities for vehicle maintenance.
- Work closely with transportation compliance manager.
- Keep informed of new technology developments.
- Provide adequate and efficient tools for all owned maintenance facilities.
- Responsible for management and staffing at all owned maintenance facilities. Hire and determine personnel needs.
- Ensure adequate yet efficient inventories are maintained for parts and supplies.
- Design and implement cost saving opportunities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent maintenance management work experience
- Minimum five years maintenance management work experience, including a vast knowledge of over-the-road transportation equipment and a strong knowledge of DOT regulations
- Excellent written & verbal communication
- Ability to successfully influence & build interpersonal relationships both internally & externally
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Understanding of ERP systems
- Excellent follow-up skills
- Able to effectively multi-task
- Strong leadership & management skills
- Critical thinker
